Kolkata, June 20: Music lovers gathered at Hall-2 of the Kolkata Centre for Creativity (KCC), Anandapur, on Friday evening for Tomar Aamar Gaan, a World Music Day eve concert. The event featured Bengali musical ensemble Onyo Kshetra, whose repertoire blended contemporary themes, urban storytelling, folk influences, and modern acoustic arrangements.
Held a day before World Music Day, observed globally on June 21, the concert showcased a setlist dominated by original Bengali compositions. Among the songs performed were:

The ensemble also paid tribute to global musical traditions with a rendition of Bob Marley’s iconic Redemption Song.
The evening concluded with a collective performance of Rabindranath Tagore’s Prano Bhoriye Trisha Horiye, bringing together performers and audience in a fitting finale to the celebration of music.

A consultant physiatrist and academic based in Kolkata, Dr. Das has long remained associated with cultural and musical initiatives in the city, reflecting a rare intersection between medicine and the performing arts.
A notable feature of the evening was the recognition of Rudraneel Chowdhury’s sustained contribution to the independent music scene. Through original compositions, collaborative projects and live performances, Chowdhury has been associated with efforts to create and promote contemporary Bengali music beyond mainstream commercial platforms. The event served both as a musical presentation and as an acknowledgement of his artistic journey within the independent music community.
