There’s a certain enchantment that sweeps across Kolkata as Durga Puja approaches. The skies seem clearer, the evenings carry a festive breeze, and every heart beats a little faster with anticipation. Yesterday, I got a beautiful taste of that spirit at the Puja Menu Launch of Palms Kitchen & Bar, Holiday Inn Express Kolkata Airport – and what a feast it was!
A Festive Prelude
The moment I stepped in, the setting itself whispered Puja. Bright décor, delicate floral arrangements, and a divine backdrop of Maa Durga – the atmosphere was nothing short of a mini-pandal. It had all the vibrancy and warmth of the festival, minus the crowd.
The Grand Mahabhoj
But the real celebration began when the food arrived – Mahabhoj 2.0, an extravagant spread of over 70 delicacies that truly captured the soul of Bengal’s biggest festival.
From golden, crispy bhajas and soft luchis paired with rich cholar dal, to fragrant biryanis and slow-cooked mutton kosha, every dish carried a story of tradition and nostalgia. The tangy tomato chutney, the smoky shutki preparations, and the sweet embrace of mishti doi and sandesh tied the entire journey together. Served in earthenware, the experience felt authentic and rooted – a soulful reminder of home-cooked festive meals.
More Than Just Food
To complete the celebration, guests were treated to unlimited mocktails that refreshed the palate and live music that lifted the mood. It wasn’t just about dining; it was about celebrating togetherness, culture, and the joyous wait for Durga Puja.
A Delicious Beginning
Leaving the venue, I carried with me not just a full stomach but a festive heart. If this preview was so delightful, I can only imagine the grandeur of the full-fledged Puja celebrations at Palms Kitchen.
Because Durga Puja isn’t just a festival – it’s about making memories. And with Mahabhoj 2.0, Palms Kitchen is ensuring those memories are as delicious as they are unforgettable.
