SIP Academy India Hosts International Prodigy 2024 in Kolkata, Showcasing Global Talent in Mental Math

The prestigious SIP International Prodigy 2024 was held on Sunday at the Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan in Kolkata, bringing together young mathematical prodigies from around the world. Organized by SIP Academy India, the event saw more than 5800 students from across India and 11 other countries, including Sri Lanka, Dubai, Australia, the Philippines, Bahrain, Tanzania, Bangladesh, New Zealand, New Jersey (USA), and Nepal, all competing for the top spot in mental math.

This high-energy competition challenged participants to solve an impressive 300 complex mathematical problems within just 11 minutes, with a focus on skills such as abacus calculation, multiplication, division, and visual arithmetic. The event not only tested their speed but also required precision and analytical skills, making it a true showcase of mental prowess.

The day was further elevated by the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Saibal Chattopadhyay, Director-in-Charge of the Indian Institute of Management Kolkata. A distinguished figure in Operations Management and an advocate for educational innovation, Dr. Chattopadhyay praised the young participants for their hard work and discipline. He emphasized the importance of fostering analytical thinking and resilience from a young age, encouraging students to continue developing these skills to thrive in an increasingly competitive world.

Marking its 21st edition, the SIP International Prodigy Competition has a rich legacy, having earned recognition from the LIMCA Book of Records on four occasions. This year’s event was a grand affair, drawing a crowd of over 12,000 attendees, including students, parents, and SIP Abacus instructors, creating an atmosphere of celebration and inspiration.

Reflecting on the event, Mr. Dinesh Victor, Managing Director of SIP Academy India & International, highlighted that every participant was a winner. He emphasized that success lies not in trophies but in commitment, growth, and self-improvement, urging students to view this experience as a stepping stone in their personal development.
